Having built the Finnish Hurricane, building this one was simply inevitable. Finland received Bf 109Gs from Germany during the Continuation War, and they became the backbone of the Finnish fighter arm — ultimately the most capable aircraft available to a small nation fighting for its survival on the margins of a much larger conflict. Finnish pilots flew them with considerable distinction.
Trumpeter's kit is something else entirely. The control surfaces are hinged with metal fittings, the undercarriage is sprung with metal struts and actual small springs, rubber wireing are included for the gear, and as if that weren't enough you get two sets of the correctly thin scale canopy — plus a complete clear version of the entire fuselage for anyone who wants to display the interior. It is, in short, a luxury package, and it's converted me: there are now several more Trumpeter kits waiting on the shelf.
