My name is Johan Hammar and I'm the person behind Plasticfantastique. I've been building scale models on and off for more than 50 years — what started with aircraft has over the years expanded to include figures and dioramas as well.
I enjoy documenting what I build and what I learn along the way. If someone else finds it useful or gets inspired, that's a bonus. I've also worked in IT throughout my professional life, so building websites is another hobby in its own right.
One section of this site is dedicated to walk-arounds — photo galleries of real aircraft taken at museums and airshows. These are primarily meant as reference material for modellers: the kind of detailed shots of panel lines, markings, cockpits and undercarriages that are hard to find elsewhere. I try to cover subjects I'm building or planning to build, but also aircraft I simply find interesting.
I'm a member of IPMS Uppsala, a local chapter of the International Plastic Modellers' Society, and regularly attend their monthly build meetings. I also built their website — you can find it at ipmsuppsala.se.
This is purely a hobby. These pages are funded out of my own pocket and I'm not selling anything.
